Babyhood Amani Sleigh Cot and Bamboo mattress review

The Amani pairs a timber sleigh cot with a Bamboo mattress from $949. We check its conversion kit, room fit and package value against smaller Babyhood options.

The trade-off

The Amani's shape needs a room check before a style decision. A photograph cannot tell you whether you can reach the mattress comfortably, open the wardrobe or pass beside the cot with a laundry basket. Mark out the seller-confirmed external dimensions on your floor.

The Babyhood Amani is a substantial sleigh-style timber cot sold with a Bamboo Breathe Eze Innerspring Mattress. The package starts at $949 on Babyhood’s Australian website, checked 7 October 2026. Its case rests on the included mattress and toddler rail, rather than the decorative end panels.

This is a specification assessment. We have not assembled the Amani or operated its drop side. The model has no canonical Bench Score in our category data, so this review carries no numerical rating.

The short answer

Shortlist the Amani if you want a sleigh cot and intend to use its later furniture configurations. Before ordering, check the selected finish, the final delivered price and the exact conversion parts supplied. A package label is not a packing list for every future mode.

If you mainly want a straightforward cot and mattress, start with the Dune package. Paying for furniture you will keep is easier to justify than paying for a conversion you will never make.

What is included

The package page lists one Amani cot and one Bamboo Breathe Eze Innerspring Mattress. The separate Amani cot specification describes New Zealand plantation timber, two base positions, a single-hand internal drop side, four lockable wheels and a bonus toddler rail. Its recommended mattress is 1295 × 690 × 100 mm.

Those two pages serve different purposes. The bundle page establishes what you are buying together; the cot page supplies the furniture details. Ask the seller to confirm that the package contains the current cot version and its stated toddler rail.

The case for it

The Amani puts the cot and its specified mattress in one transaction. That reduces the shopping work, especially when several similarly named mattresses appear beside the same furniture. Keep the mattress model and size on your order confirmation so a substitution is easy to identify.

The included toddler rail is the more useful part of the longevity argument. An advertised future mode has little financial value if it later requires a discontinued kit. Having the conversion parts at the start makes the intended transition more concrete. Store them with the instructions and hardware.

The wheels also deserve attention at a floor model. Think about where the cot will actually stand and whether you need to move it for cleaning. A nursery layout should leave access to the side you use most, rather than treating the cot as an ornament against the wall.

The case against it

The Amani’s shape needs a room check before a style decision. A photograph cannot tell you whether you can reach the mattress comfortably, open the wardrobe or pass beside the cot with a laundry basket. Mark out the seller-confirmed external dimensions on your floor.

Babyhood promotes several later configurations. That does not establish how useful each one will be in your home. A toddler bed may be valuable; a sofa configuration may sit unused. Base the purchase on the modes you expect to use, with the required parts confirmed in writing.

The Bamboo name belongs to the mattress textile, not the cot frame or the whole mattress core. Our Bamboo Breathe Eze review explains the spring construction and removable cover. Buying the package does not change the care requirements or turn the material name into a sleep-safety guarantee.

How it compares

The Classic Sleigh package starts at $849 on the same checked date. It is the closer alternative if the sleigh shape matters but the Amani’s particular design does not. The Georgia Sleigh package lists at $829. Compare the actual furniture and included conversion parts before interpreting a higher price as better construction.

The Dune package starts at $699 and has a simpler frame. That comparison asks a useful question: what will the extra spending buy you during ordinary cot use? The answer should concern access, furniture life or a design you intend to keep.

Before you order

Request the current manual, confirm the mattress size for the supplied cot and check the conversion kit contents. Our cot mattress fit guide explains why matching the labelled size matters. Read the Australian cot standards guide for the distinction between a manufacturer’s compliance claim and independent verification.

Verdict

The Amani makes sense as a chosen furniture design with a specified mattress and a useful conversion kit. It is harder to justify as the cheapest route to a complete nursery sleep space. See the drop side demonstrated, confirm the package contents and buy for the configurations you will actually use.
