Babyhood publishes the exact 1295 × 690 × 100 mm size, cites AS/NZS 8811.1:2013 firmness testing and provides detailed moisture and rotation instructions.
The construction is credible. The price is less convincing. Pocket-spring rivals in our field cost around $199 and outscore it, while the phrase “bamboo” describes a blend cover rather than the support core.

Buy it if your cot specifies exactly 1295 × 690 × 100 mm, you want an innerspring structure with reinforced corners and value a removable washable cover. It is especially rational inside one of Babyhood’s discounted cot packages.
Skip it if you are choosing purely on standalone value, need another size or assume bamboo makes the whole mattress natural. Comparable pocket-spring products can cost less, and the inner padding is polyester fibre.

The case for it
Babyhood publishes the inside
Mattress pages often substitute health adjectives for construction. Babyhood names Bonnell springs, tempered steel perimeter support, corner springs and thermally bonded polyester fibre. Those details let the product be compared rather than merely trusted.
Bonnell units tie the springs together, creating broad support across the surface. They are less individually responsive than pocket springs, but infant mattresses are not bought for adult-style contouring. Firmness, fit and durable edges matter more.
The corners receive specific support
Babyhood says corner springs reduce the risk of a limb becoming trapped when a standing child loads the edge. We have not load-tested that claim, but publishing an edge-support method is better than offering a soft foam border with no description. Check that the mattress remains flat and snug as it ages.
The cover can leave the mattress
The bamboo-cotton blend cover unzips and can be gently washed. Babyhood gives unusually detailed care: cool water, mild detergent, no heat drying, regular rotation and frequent airing. Those instructions reveal the compromise as well as the benefit. Washability helps, but shrinkage and trapped moisture can damage fit and hygiene.
The case against it
Value stops the score at 7.9
Our field contains $199 pocket-spring mattresses with stronger value scores. The Babyhood’s $279 standalone price buys a good cover and documented frame, but not a unique level of support. It is more compelling when discounted inside a cot package.
Material marketing needs translation
The cover is a bamboo-cotton blend. The support layers are polyester fibre and steel. Claims about thermoregulation, eczema and antimicrobial behaviour belong to the manufacturer and should not be read as medical outcomes. A clean, dry, correctly fitted mattress remains the practical standard.
Two warranty statements cover different things
The specification table states one year against manufacturing faults. The longer copy states ten years on the spring structure. Ask what evidence, original receipt and ownership conditions apply to each. Fabric, zipper, compression and care-related damage are excluded from the one-year terms described online.
How it compares
Babyhood’s $139 fibre-only Breathe Eze is lighter and cheaper but scores 6.9 because it lacks the spring support structure. The Orthopaedic Breathe Eze uses a cotton cover and similar Bonnell construction for less. Premium pocket-spring rivals can isolate load more precisely, while fully washable-core mattresses simplify deeper cleaning at much higher cost.
Verdict
The Bamboo Breathe Eze is a well-documented conventional cot mattress. Its named firmness standard, supported spring perimeter, exact sizing and removable cover make a strong 7.9 case. There is no need to invent luxury around it.
The standalone price is the weakness. Buy it when the fit is exact and a package discount makes the arithmetic work. Otherwise compare the $199 pocket-spring field before paying extra for the cover fabric.
