Fifteen nursing chairs sold in Australia, from a $499 manual glider to a $2,198 rocker, assessed on what their manufacturers actually publish. Nothing here has been sat in. Every chair was scored on comfort and support, recline and glide, fabric and cleanability, build, and value, using the spec sheet on the retailer’s listing and the lowest listed Australian retail price as at 30 July 2026. Where a listing publishes nothing, it scores as though it publishes nothing, because that is all you get to buy on.

1. Babyhood Firenza Electric Feeding and Recliner Glider Chair, Boucle Cream
$1,699. Best overall.
The Firenza wins this group test because it publishes more than anything else here. Electric recline with an integrated leg rest, power-adjustable lumbar support, adjustable head and neck support, a one-touch return to upright, a 360-degree swivel base, USB and USB-C charging, and a stain-resistant boucle performance fabric. It is also the only chair in the field that publishes a user weight rating, at 125 kg. A rating is a manufacturer committing to a number in writing, and nobody else here does it.
The one-touch return to upright is the feature to weigh up if you are buying while pregnant. Getting out of a deep recliner with a feeding baby against your chest is the part of the night nobody warns you about, and only the Firenza and the Roma list a powered lift back to seated alongside a full electric recline.
Against it: value is the weakest of its five sub-scores. At $1,699 you pay $700 over a Cocoon Bondi that lists pocket springs, and $300 over the Roma, which carries most of the same feature list.
For. The deepest published spec sheet in the field, and the only rated weight capacity. Against. You pay a clear premium over the Roma for a shorter list of extras.

2. Babyhood Roma Electric Feeding and Recliner Glider Chair
$1,399.
The Roma is the Firenza with the top of the options list removed. You still get electric recline and leg lift, a gliding motion, a swivel base, power-adjustable lumbar, adjustable head and neck support, one-touch upright assist, USB and USB-C ports, and a performance fabric with a stain-resistant finish. What you do not get is the boucle, and the listing does not publish a weight rating.
For most buyers that is the correct trade. Three hundred dollars is a bassinet, and the mechanism that does the work at 3am is identical on paper. Its value sub-score of 8.5 sits a full point above the Firenza’s for exactly this reason.
Against it: build and fabric both come in half a point under the Firenza, and the Cocoon Bondi undercuts the Roma by $400 with a published construction spec the Roma listing does not match.
For. Nearly the full Firenza feature set for $300 less. Against. Neither the cheapest electric here nor the best specified.

3. Cocoon Bondi Boucle Electric Recliner, Light Grey
$999. Best electric under $1,000.
The Bondi is the only chair in this field that tells you what is inside the seat. Pocket springs with high-density foam, on a metal frame with solid wood. Everything else here describes padding in adjectives. It also lists a power recliner that lowers the headrest and raises the footrest on a push-button panel, a 270-degree swivel with glide in the upright position, a removable lumbar pillow, and a hand-upholstered eco-performance fabric that is stain resistant and water repellent.
Note the swivel figure. It is 270 degrees, not the 360 you get on the Firenza, the Cocoon Rio and the Valco Selene. The Roma lists a swivel base without giving an arc. In a nursery corner that is academic, but check it if the chair sits mid-room.
Against it: no published weight rating or dimensions, and no assisted return to upright.
For. The only published construction detail in the field, at $999. Against. Less swivel than the field, and no assisted return to seated.

4. Baby Studio Electronic Recliner
$1,199.
Two features here are worth more than the ranking suggests. The seat is described as extra wide, and the footrest is a continuous section with no gaps. Anyone who has had a foot drop through the split in a two-piece footrest while holding a sleeping baby will understand why that is on the list. The recline is electric and whisper-quiet, which is the right priority for a chair used in a dark room at 2am. The fabric is a breathable linen described as easy to clean, with USB-C charging and a side storage pocket.
Against it: at $1,199 it publishes fewer adjustment features than either Babyhood electric, with neither lumbar nor head and neck adjustment listed, and no one-touch upright. Its build sub-score of 7.5 is the equal lowest of the five electrics, level with the Rio. You pay $200 more than the Cocoon Bondi for a chair that says less about how it is made.
For. Extra-wide seat and a gapless footrest, both genuinely useful for long feeds. Against. Priced above the Bondi with a thinner adjustment and construction spec.

5. Cocoon Rio Electric Recliner & Glider Chair with USB, Sandstone Boucle
$999.
The Rio’s motion spec is the equal of anything under $1,000. Electric recline to a full recline position, a gliding motion, a 360-degree swivel base, a high backrest for head and neck support, ergonomic armrests and an integrated USB port, in an eco-performance boucle. It is Australian-designed and lists easy assembly.
Set against the Bondi at the same $999, the Rio gives you the full 360-degree swivel the Bondi does not. What it does not give you is any statement about springs, foam density or frame material, and that is the whole of the gap between them on score.
Against it: the eco-performance boucle is a claim without the stain-resistance wording the Bondi carries.
For. Full 360-degree swivel and electric recline for $999. Against. No construction detail published to back the price against its own stablemate.

6. Babyhood Vogue Feeding Glider Chair & Ottoman, Charcoal
$799.
This is where the motors stop and the value starts. The Vogue is a manual glider with a lockable recline, an adjustable seat and an assisted return to a full seating position, sold with a matching ottoman. It is the cheapest chair here that combines a lockable recline with a lift back to upright, and it undercuts every electric in the field by $200.
Babyhood’s argument is that a glide is a more settled motion than a rock and that a compact glider is easier to climb out of than a full-size recliner. Take that with the usual salt, but the mechanical point stands: a lockable recline holds the angle you set instead of drifting back while you feed.
Against it: fabric and cleanability is its weakest sub-score at 7.0, with no stain-resistance treatment published, which the $529 Valco Iris manages. There is no powered function or USB, and no weight rating.
For. Lockable recline, assisted upright return and an ottoman for $799. Against. No published fabric treatment on a chair that will be fed in daily.

7. Valco Baby Selene Glider Chair
$599. Best under $700.
The Selene has the most complete motion spec under $700. Seat glide, full recline, a 360-degree swivel and storage pockets, in a chair that costs $200 less than the Vogue glider-and-ottoman bundle above it. Nothing else in the sub-$700 band lists all four.
It is also the only chair in the field with published dimensions, though you have to go to the Marshmallow colourway listing to find them, at 66 cm by 73 cm by 107 cm. Measure your nursery corner before you order.
Against it: the fabric is described as luxurious and soft with no stain-resistance claim of any kind, which is why cleanability sits at 6.5. There is no ottoman in the box, and the matching Harmony ottoman is $249 on its own.
For. Recline, glide and full swivel at $599. Against. Untreated fabric and no ottoman included.

8. Valco Baby Eurobell Glider With Ottoman
$669.
The Eurobell’s one distinct idea is a storage ottoman that glides in unison with the chair. On paper that solves the irritation every static ottoman creates, where your feet stay put while the rest of you moves. It glides, reclines and swivels, and the padding is described as extra comfortable. At $669 with the ottoman in the box, it lands $179 under a Selene plus a Harmony ottoman bought separately.
Against it: the listing is short. Nothing on fabric treatment, frame construction, weight rating or dimensions, and the swivel is not given a figure. Its 7.5 is a score for a chair that does the basics and declines to elaborate. Like the Selene, it is flagged as a two-person pick-up for click and collect.
For. A gliding ottoman included, for $669. Against. The thinnest spec sheet of any chair scoring above 7.

9. Babyhood Diva Feeding Glider Chair & Ottoman, Charcoal
$499. Best value.
The cheapest genuine nursing chair in this field, and it still lists a lockable recline, an adjustable gliding seat, an assisted return to upright and an ottoman. Its value sub-score of 9.0 is beaten on any criterion only by the Firenza’s comfort and recline scores, and equalled only by the Roma’s.
Work out what that buys against the rest of the order. The $529 Valco Iris costs $30 more and has no recline at all. The $599 Selene has the recline but no ottoman and no assisted return. Nothing under $700 matches the Diva’s combination.
Against it: this is the plainest chair in the roundup. Comfort and support at 7.5 and recline and glide at 7.0 tell you the mechanism is basic. The padding is not described in any detail and there is no published fabric treatment.
For. A recline, a glide, an assisted lift and an ottoman for $499. Against. Basic on every criterion except price.

10. Valco Baby Iris Glider Chair
$529.
The Iris has the best cleanability spec at its price. The fabric is a breathable, stain-resistant Teflon treatment, which is a named finish rather than a vague claim, and its 8.0 on that criterion beats every chair below $999 here. It adds plush lumbar and back padding, side pockets, a 360-degree swivel and an included cushion.
Now note what is missing. There is no recline. The chair glides and swivels and that is the extent of the motion, which is why recline and glide scores 5.5, the lowest number in the top ten. For a chair whose job is holding you at a comfortable angle for 40 minutes at a time, that is a real limitation.

Every chair was assessed on specification on 30 July 2026. Nothing here has been physically tested, sat in or measured by us. Each chair is marked out of 10 on five criteria, and the Bench Score is the figure held in our scores file for that product. The same chair carries the same score in every post on this site.
Comfort and support covers seat width, padding, lumbar and head support as published. Recline and glide covers the recline mechanism, its adjustability, glide or rock motion, swivel and any assisted return to upright. Fabric and cleanability rewards a named treatment over an adjective. Build covers frame material, spring or foam construction and any published weight rating. Value measures the published feature set against the price and against what the rest of the field charges.
A listing that publishes nothing scores badly. That is deliberate, and you should know what it means. Four chairs sit outside the top ten largely because their retailers published no specification at all: the Nuage Interiors Jolie Rocker & Ottoman at $2,198 and Cloud Rocker & Ottoman at $1,980, the Fluff Daddy Fluff Mumma Glider Recliner at $999, and the Quax Rocking Nursing Chair at $749.95. The Mocka Penny Gingham at $719.99 does publish a manual recline, a 360-degree swivel, a rocking motion, two lumbar cushions and side pockets, and scores 6.9. Those chairs may be excellent in a showroom. On the evidence a buyer can read online, they cannot be judged that way.
Buyer’s notes
Check the colourway before you check the price. The Cocoon Bondi Boucle Electric Recliner is $999 in Light Grey and $1,099 in Vanilla, for the same chair name. The Valco Selene is $599 as the Selene Glider Chair and $589 as the Selene Marshmallow. Those gaps are a fabric choice, and the listings do not distinguish the specification underneath.
Do the bundle maths yourself. Valco sells the Selene Glider with a matching Harmony Ottoman for $849. The Selene Glider Chair is $599 and the Harmony Ottoman is $249, which is $848 bought separately. The bundle costs a dollar more than the parts. The Babyhood Vogue at $799, the Babyhood Diva at $499 and the Valco Eurobell at $669 all include an ottoman, so compare landed totals rather than headline chair prices.
Almost nobody publishes dimensions, and you need them. Not one of the 15 listings assessed gives a size; the only figure anywhere in the set comes from the Selene Marshmallow colourway listing, at 66 cm by 73 cm by 107 cm. A recliner also needs clearance behind it to lie back, and none of these listings tell you how much. Measure your nursery corner, then ring the retailer and ask for the reclined depth before you order. All three Valco gliders are flagged as a two-person pick-up for click and collect, which tells you something about the mass involved.
If you are buying an electric chair, plan the power point. Every chair in the top five reclines on a motor and charges phones from a USB or USB-C port, and none of them work mid-room without a cable running to the wall. Check which side the controls sit on relative to the nearest outlet and the cot. On fabric, a named treatment beats a warm adjective, and only four chairs here publish one: stain-resistant boucle on the Firenza, a stain-resistant finish on the Roma, stain resistant and water repellent on the Cocoon Bondi, and Teflon on the Valco Iris. If your chair does not have one, budget for a cover.
