It powers the recline and leg lift, lumbar section and head-and-neck support, then returns upright with one touch. The base glides and swivels, USB-A and USB-C charging are built in, and the performance weave is sold as stain resistant. The current $1,499 official price is $200 below the price used in our scoring pass.

The short answer
Buy the Firenza if several adults will use the chair, post-birth recovery makes manual recliner closure undesirable, or adjustable lumbar and neck support matters more than compact dimensions. It is the field leader on the published evidence.
Skip it if the room cannot accommodate a 100 × 76 cm chair plus its movement zone, you want removable machine-washable covers or your combined load approaches 125 kg. Babyhood’s FAQ says 125 kg while its specification table says 135 kg including baby and accessories. Obtain the governing figure in writing.

The case for it
Support adjusts to the adult
Fixed nursery chairs ask different bodies to accept the same lumbar curve and headrest height. The Firenza changes both. The powered lumbar section can increase lower-back contact, while head and neck positioning adapts for shorter and taller users. That breadth drives the 9.5 support score.
Specifications cannot prove comfort. Seat depth, arm height and foam feel still need an in-person check where possible. The value of the mechanism is that it provides adjustment after the initial sit, when feeding posture changes or a second adult takes over.
One-touch upright solves a real problem
Closing a manual recliner while holding a baby can require leg and abdominal force at exactly the wrong stage of recovery. The Firenza’s powered return reduces that effort. Electric leg lift and recline then provide incremental positions rather than a few mechanical stops.
Keep children, pets, blankets and feet clear of every moving part. Route the power cable to avoid a trip or strangulation hazard and allow enough rear and front clearance for the full mechanism.
Glide and swivel complete the setup
Glide supplies repetitive settling motion. Swivel allows access to a side table or cot without shifting the whole 100 cm-wide chair. USB ports are convenient, although the safe power connection is more important than the charging feature.
The current $1,499 price improves the case. It is now level with or below several less adjustable imported electric chairs.
The case against it
Babyhood publishes two maximum loads
The FAQ says 125 kg. The specification table says a maximum total of 135 kg including baby and accessories. Both cannot govern the same configuration. Use the lower figure unless Babyhood supplies a corrected manual or written confirmation.
The same inconsistency appeared on the Roma listing. A premium powered-chair range should have one unambiguous combined load across page, manual and carton.
The operating footprint is larger than 100 × 76 cm
Those dimensions describe the chair, not the moving envelope. Add reclined back travel, raised leg rest and swivel clearance. Tape the zone on the nursery floor and confirm that doors, cot rails and drawers still operate.
Performance fabric still requires maintenance
Babyhood calls the weave stain resistant and recommends protective spray, gentle vacuuming, rapid spot cleaning and periodic de-pilling. There is no removable machine-washable cover. Ivory furniture beside a feeding baby remains a maintenance decision even when the textile specification is good.
How it compares
The Babyhood Roma scores 8.6 and currently costs $1,199. It supplies nearly the same powered function set in a narrower-looking form and is the value alternative. The Diva costs $399 and needs no power, but gives up powered support and upright assist. Manual premium recliners can be simpler to own, but cannot match the Firenza’s adjustability.
Verdict
The Firenza leads because its specification is built around feeding work rather than nursery styling. Powered lumbar and neck support, leg lift, recline, upright return, glide and swivel address different parts of a long session. At the reduced $1,499 price, the value objection has weakened.
The recommendation remains conditional on fit, space and load clarification. Sit in it if possible, map the movement zone and get the correct maximum weight. If those checks pass, the Firenza is the strongest nursing-chair specification we assess.
